Project Management

Managed call center, disaster recovery, claims adjudication and optical character recognition projects. The clients were Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, Humana, Health Net, Medicare, and TRICARE. TRICARE is military insurance.

Managed a replacement for the Enterprise Document Management System for Commercial Federal Bank. This very "tight" time line project will deliver a supported platform that is less expensive, scalable and easier to maintain than the current system. Duties other than project management are the RFP process, vendor selection and management, SOW negotiations, and design including disaster recovery. In addition to this project, I  provided managerial assistance to a WEB Portal project using Share point.

Prior to managing the Bank project,  I completed managing a disaster recovery and business continuity (D/R) budget and recommendation for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE). A final presentation was made to senior management and the project was closed. Other than the project management duties, other tasks were preparing an RFP, justifying a 4.5 million dollar budget, and negotiating with a variety of hardware and software vendors. The recommendation is unique because it is not a traditional D/R program, and leverages the solution for other purposes.

Prior to working with BCBSNE, I managed professional developers and projects processing securities transactions for our client Donaldson Lufkin and Jeanerette (DLJ) located in the New York area. The client required management of a variety of projects mandated by the SEC and NASD, as well as business expansion projects. In this position, I also developed the SDLC methodology for our team members and customers to work together. The other duties included typical management functions such as developing project plans and controlling the project, conducting meetings, employee development, mentoring, and appraisals as well as ensuring good working relationships with our customers. On average,  eight projects were in progress at any point in time during this engagement.

In terms of personnel, the largest project/s I managed was the Y2K Quality Assurance for DLJ. Most of the personnel working with me on this series of projects were contract, and the majority of these were primarily from Mexico and Ireland. The teams consisted of 25 to 40  international team members. The largest challenge for me was to overcome the cultural and language barriers so we could not only work together as a team, but also communicate effectively with our clients located over 1300 miles from our office of operation. This was a critical project for DLJ given the mandates and timelines of the SEC, and other client security companies. I was brought in after my predecessor had failed to form cohesive teams that could work with our clients.

Other organizations where I have managed personnel and projects are EDS, and Enron where I was employed, and BASF and Educational Training Services where I worked as a third-party manager-consultant.

Most of my experience has been in management, technical, and coordination positions. I am a good organizer, and have the ability to keep projects moving, and think "outside of the box". I also enjoy developing and mentoring fellow employees. These strengths are a good fit within any organization.
